india recentlyevaluated two missiles russian iskander(250kms range 400kgs warhead capable of crrying all warheads including emi warheads) ans israeli lora-emissiles(range300kms with a500km warhead) and selected the israeli missile because it was superior to the russian missile it can also carry all types of warheads.it is unique as it can be used both as cruise as well as a ballistic missile .the main factor that clinched the deal in israel's favour is that they were willing to sell india electro optical technology for the indian missile programme india till now relied on russian system .however israeli system is considered to be much superior to it israelis are aqmongst the best in this .israel also sold india the trajectory correction system for the pinaka rockiets.indian army is also evaluating the israeli spyder sam system it consists of pyhon5 and derby missiles(range 500m to 15 kms and 15kms to 60 kms respectively) also israel suppilied to india and integrated the lahat anti tank missile(range 8kms against tanks and 10kms against helicopters day or night) this missile can be fired from tanks, helicopters, and uavs.also india and israel are working or a new missile for the navy(sam) superbarak2000 they claim that it will be equal to sm3 does any one have any figures of sm3.the israeli missile is said to have a very unique guidance system.the spyder system has loal and lobl capability.

Lora beats the other two hands down, both in range and payload. I vote for Lora, a good choice by the Indian establishment.

SM3 data is classified. It would be extremely optimistic (even for the Israelis) to state that the SB is comparable to the SM3.

The issue of a missile system also needs to be considered with the requisite FCS. Not doing that is like picking a car without air in it's tyres. ;)

I agree with the issue that the Israelis are exceptionally good with their electronic and missile systems, but to make a comparison with the SM3 is a bit optimistic.

It could be just as good as the SM3. Who knows?
I've no doubt that it is extremely capabe. IMHO the opinion the Israelis build some of the best kit in the world.

What I'm saying is making a comparison to SM3 is marketing hype - as the specs for SM3 are obviously classified.

Similarly I get cranky about idiots talking about planes outperforming the F-22 and F-35 when there is no data in the public domain at all re these platforms. People go crazy on speculation when there is nothing of substance to base their arguments on except patriotism (or racism as the case may be). (The su-47 argument being an excellent example of wishful thinking that is not supported by evidence of project failure and stagnantation).

I'm being pedantic to bring some reality into the post.

The US is not in the habit of giving perf specs to the Israeli's - especially when they compete in the same commercial space.

is it true that the JSF has this new Device mounted on it developed by BAE systems that allows a 360 degree view of the battle field and evaluates the targets and displays hihg priority targets and priorities them from distance and threat level of the equipment and amunition the threat is carrying. i think this is for closer WVR combat scenario, i can't wait to see something like this being stuck onto the EF2000. it would make the JSF literally Invisible at close range and long range scans can be achieved useing the standard IRTS.
