Israeli Looks to MEKO for Stealth Corvette

Looks like MEKO may replace the Israeli's SAAR class as the latest small combatant:

The comment about an AAW corvette is fascinating. It will be interesting to see what the total cost would be - the COTS approach to mixing indiginous tech with a modular ship maker has been the success factor behind previous MEKO classes to date. If they can stand this vessel up faster than most navies' internal procurement programs, it says a lot about certain higher-profile programs.

I'm pretty sure that one aspect of a MEKO purchase will be that Germany will probably significantly contribute to the purchasing costs, as we did with the Dolphins.
However, sure would be nice to see a MEKO CSL derived corvette in service. One thing that immidiately strikes me when I compare CSL to LCS is the significantly smaller flight deck.

Good point. Although the distinctions between the traditional ship classes have blurred a lot, it makes sense that the helo deck space is smaller given that this would be typically the smallest type to embark an air asset. Still plenty of room for UAVs though.
