A few years ago Greece was interested in buying the ISKANDER tactical ballistic missile system as a response to Turkey's ballistic missile research. What are the capabillties of Iskander? Can it avoid antiballistic missiles?

the iskander-e was offered to the indian army but was rejected by the indian army in favour of the israeli lora missile, the reasons for rejecting the russian offer was:

1)refusal of tot since india had not signed ipr then.(i hope it is offered now since india has signed the ipr with russia)

2)this is a completed project(india wanted to be involved in the project from the scratch)

one thing realy impressed the indians of this missile was its guidance system and its ability to carry emi warheads.

Sorry man, I dont know what these things are
Please help me :)
tot stands for transfer of technology.

india asked russia to transfer the technology of the iskander missile so that these missiles can be manufactured in india, also india wanted to acquire from russia an electro optical guidance system technology for its ballistic missile programme, however russia refused to sell them since india had not signed the ipr agreement with them.

ipr stands for intellectual property rights.

ipr is an agreement recently signed between india and russia, according to which india and rusia can jointly develop defence technology, however india cannot sell these technology or any other russian systems to third countries without russian permission though they can manufacture them in india for the indian armed forces.

emi warheads stands for electro magnetic impulse warheads.

emi weapons are weapons that release a very powerfull burst energy(electrical or microwave) sufficient to destroy any enemy electrical equipments like communication equipments, radars(surveillance equipments),missile guidance systems etc.

russia has two types of emi weapons currently them are the ranet-e and rosa-e ,india is currently developing one known as the kali10000(kilo ampere linear injector).

The Iskander-E may have also been offered to Syria, but I think that deal fell through due to international pressures, as it does comply with the Missile Technology Control Regime. Russia is still marketing it through trade shows, but I haven't seen where it has actually been purchased by other nations.
