I was looking on some reports which said that the Chinese built Jiangwei-II/F-22 frigates are somewhat vulnerable to an air attack because these frigates lacks vertical-launch system air defence missiles.These frigates have an octuple HQ-7 SAM system but that is not enough to repel a medium air attack and also if we see historically the biggest weakness of Chinese ships is the lack of good ship-to-air missiles.These ships do not have any damage control facilities,the ability to resist battle damage is extremely limited(according to some sources) and some say that its fire suppression system is also not too good.
But on the other hand it is provided with CY-1 anti-submarine missiles,a helicopter and six C-802 anti-ship missiles to give the enemy a real and good fight if it is attacking with ships or subs.Also there is a good news that the ships being dilevered to Pakistan Navy will be specially modified according to our needs.The hull and main machinery will be same but the Command-and-control systems,Weapons and the Sensors will be especially modified.I hope that PN would consider the anti-aircraft and other issues.
