All,

This thread is to open a discussion about the needs of the Indian Naval forces. The doctrine of the Indian Navy is to be a blue water capable navy, India has a well known no first use policy when it comes to Nuclear weapons, an effective strike back capability for nuclear attacks is through nuclear tipped ICBMs launched through Nuclear powered attack submarines, India currently lacks this second strike capability, this and more can be discussed when we talk about how the Indian Navy can change itself with better equipment etc.

Discussed below is a suggested inventory for the future of the Indian Navy, pl suggest on the same, but lets keep it clean people

Aircraft Carriers - 6 (2-3 nuke powered)

Amphibious Assault Vessels - 6

Cruiser - 12

Destroyer - 12

Battleship - 6

Frigates - 12

Nuclear Powered Attack Submarines - 24

Electric / Diesel Powered - 12

Nuc powered Guided Missile Submarines- 12

Nuc-powerd Ballisitic Missile Subs - 12

Ship based combat aircraft - 24 * 6

Maritime Recon Aircraft - 45

Anti Submarine Helicopters - 18

Again wrong forum. This is a warning. Post material in the appropriate forum. There is a Navy forum specifically for this type of discussion. Fyi in the Navy forum there is already a thread on the Indian Navy. Take the discussion there. Thread locked.
