Hey could anyone contribute their precious knowledge about the bulletproof vest and ballistic helmets used by the indian infantry?
what kind of bullets can they resist? How much can they resist? Is lackof armour responsible for many deaths in the indian infantry during combat?
Please reply people!!!

Well from what I have seen not many infantry men of the Indian Army wear body armor or helmets only those that belong to anti-terror units or something along those lines.

I'm sure I've seen the ones in Kashmir wear bullet proof vests. Not many countries use the "latest" out there, that would usually be limited to the U.S and the bigger NATO powers. Does the IA equip its troops with Indian made armor, or does import?

MKU- supplies the Indian Security Services with Body Armour, Ballistic Jackets, Ballistic Helmets, Footwear and De-Mining Suits.

This just has a little bit of insight into the indian infantry...it does not help much, but atleast you'll get a little background on the funding and state of the indian infantry. sorry if its a little long and pointless. theres only really one line that says anything about the bulletproof armor in the infantry and what the soldiers to do better prepare themselves. read at your own expense. sorry!

i was sumwhat aware of this situation. The political leaders will still fool the peple of country by glorifying death on the battlefield as SHAHID and 'died serving for his country'....but what is lost is an efficient battle hardened trained soldier....what is lost is the money and efforts put into his training...and what is gained is his orphaned family and children....but the politcians dont give a damn to this...if a little thought had gone into modernising the infantryman then these MARTYRDOM deaths would have greatly reduced....limited to injuries...the losses of human lives especially in wars would have reduced greatly....i hope something happens soon and we get a modern and more powerful and protected infantryman.

what do you ppl think?

If worn, the kevlar helmets and vests provide protection against 9mm rounds but as previously stated they are not mandatory for most regulars.
