How many humans in uniform?

I've been searching for a database or information regarding how many people from every nation are in the armed forces today, give or take. Didn't know if anyone here might have an idea at least where to look. It seems the only way is to look up every individual nation, and combine all components including reserves.

Very off topic and I was merely curious how many people worldwide serve in uniform.

If you want to count reserves, it gets problematic. Some countries nominally list a very large percentage of their population as "reserves", and have mobilization systems in place that could put them in uniform, but they don't regularly train or serve as is.

Not sure how up to date this list is. But, a chance it will be able to provide you with a rough idea.

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_military_and_paramilitary_personnel"]List of countries by number of military and paramilitary personnel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

For a "total" number, I suggest you break out your trusty calculator, and have at it.

And, if you wish to include law enforcement personnel:

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_police_officers"]List of countries by number of police officers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

Again, it will give you a rough idea, as it states the list is incomplete.
You might want to get some spare batteries for that calculator.

this is a question to which no one can provide a correct answer. the reason is that in addition to regular army , many countries have reserve forces , militias such as national guard, etc which are not mobilized until time of emergency. some countries do not even have a regular army ! they just have reserves . so it is very difficult to provide a solid no of people in uniform
