Longtime lurker, first time poster...

Apologies if this sort of thread exists elsewhere, but can anyone tell me what weapon this is? A colleague has challenged me to identify it... :unknown

Many thanks:

Looking at the image, it bears a strong resemblance to a Belgium's FN Herstal P90. Are there any images available which show the left side of the weapon? That is where the information would be printed (on the P90 anyway) indicating manufacturor and cartridge. Again assuming it is the P90, it would be a 5.7mm x 28mm.

OTOH a normal P90 has the magazine in a different location. Perhaps this is a prototype or one-off manufacture.

-Cheers

It looks like it was knocked up in the Garden shed.
My guess is its a fake or a prop.
Thanks so far - apart from the previous condescending post (if I could Google it I wouldn't have asked, would I?!) - but my colleague assures me that it is a genuine weapon, possibly Far Eastern...

I would disagree. The P90 has the mag loaded on top of the barrel. This pic shows the mag is the grip itself. You already mentioned the different position thingy...

The configuration seems similar to the OICW just with a shorter barrel and it looks like smaller rounds and a larger grenade launcher.

Singapore does have some awkward-looking 40mm grenade launcher with a PDW attached. And yes, it does look like some kid tried to make a toy death ray using bits of piping.

It's called a SSW - Squad Support Weapon. And the PDW is in 5.7 as Singapore has kinda decided on this calibre by issuing the FN P90 and also developing a Uzi-like PDW in this calibre.

But I can't see the attached pic. So if anyone can actually post the pic here, me or many others can confirm it in a jiffy.

Is it this?

Sweden apparently has already made an order that will be delivered in 2009.

I am not a gun expert but it looks like it is little bit front heavy ( with all the instruments and knobs on the front)

also it looks like the cartridge has 20 bullets, I hope they have 30 bullet version because I dont think 20 is not enough in todays battlefield.

That seems to be the one! My colleague was obviously trying to throw me with the reference to Japan... although it seems to be used by their Police Force it doesn't seem to be a Japanese weapon.

Many thanks for the assistance!

When you post, underneath the "submit reply" button you'll see the additional options section. Theres a manage attachments button that lets you post an image.

Chino just told you what it was, hes a DP from Singapore so he's probably in a pretty good position to know and he had an identical image on file. ;)

Its a STK Squad Support Weapon (SSW).

Many thanks, Ozzy... argument suitable resolved, so now I have to find another obscure weapon to confuse him!

Cheers for the 'post pic' instructions; the forum layout is a little different to other sites I am familiar with. Looking forward to posting here again...

(For info I am a British Police Officer, currently on secondment to the UK Foreign Office, serving on a very small island in the middle of the Indian Ocean...)
