Sorry if this isn't the right place for this thread. I'd just like to know what you guys think are the best places to get defense news. We obviously know that defencetalk is an awesome place to get defense news! I would also like to know what sources to avoid whether it's because the sources are overly biased, inaccurate... THANKS!

You could try-
1. Sino defence.com
2. defence update.com
3. aeronautics.com
4.Global security.org
5. Air force technology.com
6.Army technology.com
7. Naval Technology.com
8. BD military.com
9. Defencenews.com
10.Ria Novosti.com
11.***********
12.Air liners.net

These sites usually provide good defence information. Ria Novosti is one of the best places to look for Russian defence news, Bd military is the best place for Bangladeshi military news.

1. Defense Industry Daily (Defense Industry Daily - Military Purchasing News for Defense Procurement Managers and Contractors)
2. DoD Buzz (DoD Buzz | Online Defense and Acquisition Journal)
3. GlobalSecurity.org
4. StrategyPage.org (use this one with a grain of salt and cross-reference what it has to say with other, reliable sources)
5. FlightGlobal Defence (Military Aircraft and Military Aviation News from Flightglobal)
6. DefenseTech (http://defensetech.org/)
7. DefenseNews (Defense News - Breaking International Defense News)
8. Armed Forces Journal (ARMED FORCES JOURNAL)
8. DefenceTalk (DefenceTalk | Aerospace Defense News - Forum - Military Pictures of Air Force Army Navy)

I'd also recommend the respective websites of the armed forces which you are interested in. Below are the websites of the primary branches of the US' and UK's armed forces.

-US Army (army.mil)
-US Air Force (af.mil)
-US Navy (navy.mil)
-US Marine Corps (usmc.mil)

-Royal Air Force (raf.mod.uk)
-Royal Navy (royalnavy.mod.uk)
-British Army (army.mod.uk)

If you want more specific or regional information then you can also visit base websites, for example that of RAF Mildenhall (mildenhall.af.mil/), a USAF base located in Great Britain.

Hope this helps!

I knew there was something a little bit fishy with StrategyPage. Sometimes the figures that they gave were just plain wrong. I remember one article that was talking about the US bomber force and it referred to the B-1 as a stealth bomber and implied that the B-2 was not.

Defense news resources

This is a really useful thread and thanks for posting.

We have identified two other resources that we would recommend from the UK

- JANES.com- this is an award winning title based in the UK, but covers international news

- battleforce.co.uk

Hope you find these useful.

Defense Technology gets Russian export approval to purchase 21 civil variant Mi-17 medium lift helicopters and parts worth $379 million for the US Navy, which will then supply them to the Afghan Army Air Force.
