Good reading about tactics/strategy

If you're willing to read somethings not just from the very present, then two books which I think could be of use are:
  • Achtung Panzer! by Heinz Guderian
  • On War by Carl von Clausewitz
If the former interests you, then i think works by his contemporaries like Liddell-Hart could also be of use.

i would also recommend the biography of edwin rommel and the history of chengis khan(ancient but some aspects are still relevant and in use today.).

General von Mellenthin was a staff officer in the German Army in WW2, he wrote a memoir entitled "Panzer General" if I got the name right. Lots of information especially on Kursk. He blames Hitler for most of their mistakes and has a huge respect for the russians he fought.

I founf Clausewitz a bit too abstract (I have no military background).
