This is interesting. I wonder what were the factors that facilitated such a move, and if such close navy-to-navy co-operation will happen in other regions too.

The MoU is the realization of part of a 2013 LoI that intended much closer German/Polish navy cooperation. It's the only part that has been realized in fact.

The move - which came somewhat unexpected for the German side given political lines drawn - is likely mostly motivated by the fact that VLF transmitters cost money :roll

VLF transmitters...I thought it was due to an evolving geopolitical situation but I guess sometimes the answers are pretty straightforward.
