French pilots eject to safety as Mirage crashes
COLMAR, France, Aug 26 (AFP) - Two French air force pilots ejected to safety Thursday as they lost control of their Mirage jet, which crashed near the German border without causing any casualties, police and firemen said.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
The aircraft plummeted to earth near Oberhergheim, a village in France's eastern Alsace region.
Firemen rapidly extinguished a blaze which started in the wreckage.
On Monday, another French Mirage collided with an ultra-light recreational aircraft in the centre of the country, killing the smaller plane's two occupants.
