I'm sure we've all seen the two ex-Soviet Kievs serving as museums in China but this is something new........The Waterfront Park in Shanghai has a military tribute area. The newest attraction is a dummy aircraft carrier. Photo: http://www.behind-the-wall.org/albums/album07/dsc00762.sized.jpg
It's (very, very, very)roughly meant to look like a USN Forrestal class: Note general shape of the island w/ stack placement; and also the fake AN/SPS-48E flat radar antannae; and the two dish antennas which presumably are supposed to look like AN/SPG-51's. (which the Forrestals didn't carry; I guess they thought they just looked cool) Also note the USN-style oval elevator orifices. It's hard to make out the aircraft on deck; the two grey planes appear to be A-5 Fantan attack jets (not carrier capable) and the darker four behind them F-7 Airguard interceptors (again, land based). The helo aft is a Mi-8 Hip.
The rocket in the foreground is a Dong Feng 2 short-range ballistic missile (1960s vintage), the tank is a Korean War-era T-34, and the plane is a MiG-17 Fresco.
Just an interesting picture.
