The current UNSC (United Nations Security Council) has only five permamnent members namely USA UK France Russia (earlier USSR) and China. This system has been in place since the inception of the UN. The last couple of decades have seen increased demands of the UNSC to be expanded to include more countries whose influence and economic power and military capabilities have vastly changed from the time the UNSC was formed, a few of these growing countries like India, Brazil, Germany etc have asked to be included in this list. India has gone on a diplomatic offensive in the last 5 years and more to secure itself a seat and has been endorsed by UK, russia and france as such.

I would like to invite dicussions on this topic on whether the UNSC should have additional permanent members, who and why or should there be some other alterations to its structure so as to accomadate the changing global scene
