These aircraft are actually owned by the USGOV as ex US military aircraft cannot be sold direct. So they go back to the US and then the USGOV (via State Dpt) then work out who to sell them to)

So that means, they'll take some high-tech stuff out of the C-130s there and then give PAF just plain C-130s or will they be properly refurbished and/or upgraded to the current generation C-130 standard before being handed over to the PAF?

They will give Pakistan what it asked for. PAF will fit them out to their own requirements. Thats how normal aircraft transactions occur.

You cannot transform a C130E to a C130J. They are different in numerous areas (eg engines, propellors, wings, internal wiring)

A C130J is actually more complicated than an F/A-18 Hornet in its cockpit.

Well any news on any fighter jets being provided to Pakistan? All we get to hear is more transport aircraft and just more of 'em. I know they're important but we also need some frontline ACs at the same time! :smokingc:

PAF is not in the habit of letting anyone know what its doing. The negotiations for the Hercules have been happening for some time (over the last year). They were smart enough to keep it from the Press as the media usually make a big deal over things that have no knowledge of.

I would assume that the PAF would be discussing combat aircraft issues with respective players under the same guidelines - ie not release anything for media speculation in case it all goes to custard.

i'm predicting november is when PAF gets it new Fourth gen F-16 Block 50 +, thats November after Bush wins and is reelected in for the second term. PAF would get more or less what they need then.
