Does radar capable to detect steel net

I was wondering does military radar (s-band or x-band) capable in detecting large steel net (5mx5m) at ~5km distance. Put an example the steel net is ration 5-95 (5% is steel, 95% empty opening) and steels diameter ~3mm.

Thanks

Are you talking about a steel net in the water? Well, in that case, almost nil, since it's probably not got any surface above the water to reflect beams from.

And why would you have a giant steel net above the water, anyway?

Thank you. If steel net is effective to reduce radar detection, I was thinking probably the ships design may apply steel net as part of the ships body.

Your numbers work out as 3cm mesh.

S-band is 7.5cm to 15 cm, so (if I remember my EM theory correctly) probably.
X-band is 2.5cm to 3.75cm, so it should be able to see it.

It is the dimensions the holes in the mesh that are important, not the amount of metal.
