That is a BIG flag, unusual for a US navy ship.... I presume its a US army or marines garrison flag... 20'x38'

About US flags... Flag Flying Days (U.S.)

DDG 58 Laboon: May have something to do with the ship's name in honor... Not knowing where this photo was taken, I suspect the ship was visiting Annapolis, Maryland, home of the US Naval Academy...
