Decca radar scanners?

I was looking for some info on the net about naval ships built in the 1960's and I noticed that quite a few NATO and non-NATO operated ships of that era were fitted with Decca radar scanners, the TM707, TM626 and TM616.

What is a radar scanner?

the antenna? that's what we used to call them anyway. (we called the antenna assembly the scanner)

but i believe in this context, it refers to the entire radar system.

Thanks! You're right it refers to the entire system. I was really cracking my brains trying to figure out what ''radar scanner'' meant :) .

Were you in the navy?

coastie tech maintenance (not USCG) for a short while, many years ago
