Greetings. This is my first post to the forum and I hope the topic isn’t redundant.
Among armored 4x4s, the IVECO LMV is the undisputed leader in Europe (in addition to Italy’s large fleet, approximately 1,250 in various configurations in service with seven or so militaries). But if you’re, say, a new NATO entrant looking to acquire a fleet in this class, you have an increasing number of combat-proven options: the MOWAG/GD Eagle IV (German Bundeswehr, Denmark), BAE RG32M (Sweden, Ireland), Navistar MXT (UK). Also in the mix are the Renault Sherpa 3 and the Krauss-Maffei AMPV.
Any thoughts on the relative “bang for the buck” amongst these, in terms of mobility, protection, payload/growth, reliability, etc., especially based on operational experience?
Any idea of the baseline “drive away” cost for these? The Czech Republic contracted for something like USD $2 million per vehicle for its LMVs, which is extraordinarily high even if significant spares/support and subsystems were included.
