Chinese WZ-10 Attack helicopter

There's been a more credible photo circulating (see insert in attachment).

I've tried to make a reasonably accurate artistic interpretation of the photo. Of particular interest, the stub wings appear that they may be doors like on the Comanche. That implies stealthiness which is odd since the fixed landing gear, conventional rotor hub etc do not suggest any significant stealthiness.

Do you think the photo is genuine (there have been lots of hoaxes)

But the photo sheds fresh light. The fuselage has a ridge running along the side akin to the Comanche... normally implying either comparative stealthiness or armouring....

This link is probably the most relyable for the wz-10 project. this is all we know about it. everything else about the program is secret/quite.

Ok the picture Brit posted has made its way to the SinoDefence site which means it is being considered a genuine and not a PS job.

If it is genuine then it really is a very interesting development as it means that the chopper is either very close to being inducted or it already has been. Any ideas on what kind of missile it will carry? HongJian 9 ATGMs perhaps or the under development HJ-10s?

Can't be said which missiles it would carry a yet however HJ-10 seems and could be predicted to be a hot weapon for this project.

WZ-10 - most likely to enter service in 2006-2007 imo

I found some recent Chinese analysis on it from someone close to the project, not sure if it's valid info or not.

Hi I believe the photo is accurate as I have seen it posted on a chinese militatary site. http://www.sinodefence.com/airforce/helicopter/wz10.asp it is intersting how far the chinese are taking there military explansion plans. They definatly want to expand there offensive capibilities in all areas.

The WZ-10 attack helicopter is one of the most secret projects besides the Type 093 SSN, Type 094 SSBN, J-10C and J-XX.
That photo has been released at Sinodefence and Chinese Military Forum and it is the first clear pic of one of the six WZ-10 prototypes which are in massive flight tests. As far as I could gather information, the WZ-10 used blueprints of the Eurocopter Tiger and would be able to fire Hellfire missiles (compatible with the Apache anti-tank missiles!).
It has a 5 blade main rotor and a 4 blade tail rotor. We might see more detailed pics in 2006 while the WZ-10 might enter service in late 2006 or 2007.
