LONDON: Malaysia may buy a British-made high-powered frigate for the modernisation programme of the Royal Malaysian Navy, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“Discussions are still at the preliminary stage as the Ninth Malaysia Plan’s defence allocations have yet to be finalised,†he said.
Najib, however, added that the frigate’s main parts would be built in Malaysia in line with the Government’s aspirations to upgrade the technical and engineering skills of the people. “Except for certain high-tech equipment such as the command control centre and missiles, the integration of the various components would be done in Malaysia,†he said

What do you guys think it is? There was mention last year of a more heavily armed lekiu II being offered. However, BAE also has a new F3000 frigate design.
