Hi all - is anyone up-to-date with the Brazilian Marines, "Tonelero", Special Operations Battalion? and in particular the Amphibious Commandos, COMANF, units?

The Marines Special Operations Battalion, known as “Batalhão Tonelero”, is a special unit of naval infantry of the Navy of Brazil, is prepared to act in the coastline as well as in riverside regions. Created in 1971, based in Rio de Janeiro, started its activities with the Amphibious Command Course, organized by officers who had attended the Center for War Instruction in the Jungle (CIGS), the Brazilian Army. Subordinate to the command of Fleet Marine Force (FFE), consists of the following units:

-the Command and Service Company,
-Company Command Amphibians (two);
-Amphibious Reconnaissance Company;
-Reconnaissance Troops Company.

His specialties involve the actions of recognizing pre and post-assault raid in support of landing forces, with effective highly qualified as scuba diving or using a parachute as a means of infiltration, with a mission to identify and report activities of the enemy, conduct of fire support weapons, deploying sensors on land and guide operations with helicopters.

The command actions aimed at destroying or damaging relevant objectives, resume facilities, capture or rescue personnel, obtain data, baffle and psychological effects. The Special Course Amphibious Command, have ten weeks, has the following disciplines: techniques of infiltration; patrol, explosives, advanced first aid, fighting in urban areas, fighting hand-to-body, mountaineering, and sea survival techniques and ashore. His members must also be empowered to operate in coastal regions and flooded areas, in mountain and cold weather, in semi-arid and jungle, and both go through another exhaustive training for twelve weeks. Even within the Battalion Tonelero Group was created the Special Resume & Rescue Group (GERR) suitable for the performance of specific tasks such as the resumption of plants of interest to Brazilian Navy, or hostage rescue downed pilots in the combat zone, and anti-terrorist .

Among other skills training approach to buildings, artifacts handling chemicals, precision shooting, crossbow shooting, silencing techniques, storage and trading.
