Battleship film.

I recently had the misfortune to pay to go and see the film Battleship at the cinema and I just have one question.
How feasible would it be to get the USS Missouri back into action and does it still have any ammunition or fuel on board as in the film it did which surprised me given that it's a museum ship. I'd have thought that the health and safety brigade would go bonkers at the thought of high explosives being stored on an attraction with as many visitors.

Not feasible, not practical, done and dusted. That's the short answer. I love the battleships, but their time has long passed, and people need to let go.

I don't know about ammunition/fuel reserves kept on the ship but my guess would be a resounding no.

I don't think the engines have turned over in twenty years and I doubt there's a serving sailor who knows how to run them. in 91, they pulled a guy out of retirement to direct fire as he was hot to trot.

The steam school closed it's doors ages back - the list of practical objections to the ship even moving is tremendous.

Fuel and ammo would have been offloaded on entry to port, back in 1991/2 - anything flammable or of military value would have been removed and when she was stricken, teams would have moved through her and ripped out a ton of stuff like wiring, phones etc.

I thought it was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.This was one of the best movies in the Summer of 2012.The one film that would've gone great with this film was another movie Iwas looking forward to seeing in 2012 was G.I.Joe Retaliation,but for some reason some idiot at Paramount decided to move it's relaese to this March.

Well, Battleship certainly was one of the best comedies in 2012. I laughed through the whole movie. Their disregard of the laws of Physics is nothing short of hilarious. Plus, all the typical clichés and stereotypes are there to boot. Definitely, comedy gold.
