Would anyone be able to inform me of how many LARC vehicles the Australian Army now has in service, how old they are, when they will be replaced (if they ever are), and what they might be replaced with? Also, what sorts of roles the ADF are using these vehicles in? Cheers

You mean the old, Light Amphibious resupply Cargo (LARC Mk 5)? They were introduced in about 1964 and operated by 10th Force Support Battalion (located in Townsville).

I believe we still operate 5 or 6. I don't know of any plans to replace them. They seem normally to be used to carry personnel and minor equipment from the LPA's and HMAS Tobruk in relatively benign environments, and calm seas...
