ASLAV Crewman info

Hi, i recently had a JOES day for the ADF and applied for ASLAV crewman.
I have been searching for information on this job but there seems to be very little out there. I just have a couple questions for those in the know.

How long do you have to be a driver for before you can train for something like 'Crewman Specialist 25mm Gunner' or 'Crewman Specialist Dismounted'?

I would eventually like to be a Reconnaisance Scout i am just wondering how long this would take and how competitive it is to get into?

Any additional information and views on this job would be greatly appreciated.

If you go into Cav, you'll be trained as a recon scout and rotate through the role. Virtually everyone does it at some point in a recce unit.

With the gunner aspect, depends, but I'd imagine after 12-18months if you're switched on enough you'll get to do a gunners course and be qual'd on the 25mm.

5-6 years if sufficiently capable, you'll be looking at a Crew Commanders course and Subject 1 for Corporal and have your own "LAV"...

Lance Corporals command ASLAVs in the armd cav. Once you have completed your other subjects for Cpl promo you move up to section commander, which is 2 ASLAV-25, 1 ASLAV-PC and a recce scout team. The same level of command as Prince Harry in the Household Cavalry...
