HI,
Its been a very, very long time since I last posted, new job and new baby are taking far too much of my time. In a spare moment yesterday, I took a look at the 2010 QDR http://www.defense.gov/QDR/images/QDR_as_of_12Feb10_1000.pdf and was a little confused by some of the content regarding the recommended future force structure. WHile I know that the QDR is not binding and mostly just sort of a guiding vision, I am confused by the mention of a future force containing 8 Stryker Brigades in the active+reserve total force. This runs contrary to this recent article Army to switch 2 heavy brigades to Strykers - Army News, news from Iraq, - Army Times in the Army Times stating that a Brigade of the 1st Armored Division and the 3rd ACR will convert to Stryker Brigades in 2011 and 2012, bringing the total to 9 Stryker Brigades. Does anyone have any idea where the discrepancy comes from? Kind of a weird question, I know, but the future force structure is something I'm really interested in. It also appears (according to the QDR) that a few Heavy Brigades will be converting to Infantry Brigades, any idea which units those might be? Active or NG? Anyway, thanks.
Dan
