So I found a picture showing a transport ship called Super Servant 3 carry a sub. i knew the ship is owned by Dockwise, a Holland firm and was carrying a Kilo class. So I wonder when such civilian transport ships carry military cargo like this, is there any kind of armed escort follows to protect it? Like if it was a Kilo delivered to Iran, there might be chance that Israel tries to get rid of it, probably.

Too many variables in your question - its not that simple

I can tell you that similar ships have had armed escort at various stages of a journey - but its got zero to do with state actors deciding that they will intercept and disrupt the delivery

pause and think about my wording a bit.......

Thanks. And just to clarify, 'armed escort' here is armed guard onboard the ship, or actual warship sailing along the transport ship? I think the latter must be very rare, if any, because very few navy has the capability to send their ships in such a long journey. T

Could you tell me more about those incidents? I guess they involved USN or Russian Navy? But then the cargo must be quite high valued because i believe the cost the send warship escort must be very high and would be included in the contract.

no, can't add more

its not unusual for navies using uplift ships to do their own partial escort or get assistance from friends/partners/allies to do a partial escort.

the cost is considered to be worthwhile - its about risk mitigation - not dollars and cents

the issue is about the route - that deternines whats next
