Here's something I picked up about women serving in the Royal Netherlands navy:
Women have served in the Dutch navy since 1944. However, initially they could serve in only a few specific position and with men and women were kept separate. Up through 1980, women serving in the navy could only work ashore, not aboard the Navy's ships. In 1982 all female service components of the Dutch military (i.e. of army, navy and airforce) were abolished. Since then, it has been possible for women to apply for any position in the navy, including those aboard ships. A mixed crew has become a common sight on pretty much all types of ships of the Dutch navy, with the exception of the submarine.
