Anyone know about Aus Army unit patches?

Happened across my Grandfathers slouch hat from WWII, anyone got an idea what unit the patch on the puggaree links him to?

I'm not sure if the outer part is part of it or just the backing, in real life it's paler than shown but that was the closest available in mspaint :eek:

AOC 1st Aust. Corps, 1939-1943

Army Field Workshops;
