any one know my dad?? important!!

hello my name is michaela.
my fathers name is Ronald.B.Foster - he unfourtunatly passed away 2 years ago.
i am hoping to find information about him, as i have never met him, only ever had a few phone calls:(
i know that he was in the Royal Australian Navy, and was on the HMAS Newcastle (FFG) 06, and he was also in the Merchant Navy.
he would have been in either the merchant navy or royal australian navy before 1980, as he would now be 52 if he did not pass, and he joined the navy as an aprentice chef when he was only 16.
he wwas born 8th june 1956, and died 1st june 2006.

You could try contacting the Returned Services League of Australia too. They keep details about many ex-service people.

Hi Mate,

Re your post. First of all you have to get your Dads Birth Certificate, then when you have that, photocopy it, and yours, and sent the copies to the DoD and ask for a copy of your Dads service record. Should take a coupla months.

Or you can get the same info, barrell into your local MPs office, shove them on his desk, and tell him to get you the information or you will never vote for him again. Will take 3 weeks.

Either way works, just takes time.
