It does have a good reputation, the US coast guard use them for recon and for drug smuggling intediction (with machineguns only). Not sure if they can fire rockets or more advanced weapons.

This is some of the weapons load out of the A 109 that I have found in The Encyclopedia of World Military Aircraft. The info is several years old so it might be some what out of date but will make a good base line. Weapon options include 12.7 mm machine gun (250 rounds) in pod, pintle mounted 7.62 mm machine gun, door gunner post for 12.7 mm machine gun.

Missiles may include include 2 x TOW missile launchers (2 or 4 missiles each), unguided rockets in pods (2.75" or 81 mm rockets with 7 or 12 tubes per pod), rocket/machine gun pod (70 mm x 3 rockets and 12.7 mm machine gun (200 rounds)

malaysia army is on tight budget..they are highly interested on high capabilty,heavily armed,proper attack helis like apache,tiger or rooivalk for anti tank/armour attack.

11 A109 Power LOH purchasing i think because malaysian armed force is short on amount of transport/utility helis...and at the same time they need weapon equipped helis. so the best they can do in short term to cater both needs is purchasing A109. the A109 suits for light transport ,observation and fire support/anti tank.

malaysian air force sikorsky S61 fleet are all reaching age of 30 year old.

navy got 6 super lynx for anti ship/anti submarine nd some Fennec(forgot the amount).
