There are a lot of small articles on the internet that mention or is about the excercise Able Archer which was conducted by Nato in 1983.
For some, this was the closest time that Nato and Warsaw Pact almost started a war. Even for some it was more likely to have a nuclear war since the Cuban Missile Crisis. On the other hand, a few articles downplay the situation and say analyst exagerate the situation.
Since i just read bits and pieces about this exercise i can't get a clear picture of what really happened. it would be wonderul to read a book about this exercise, not what could have happaned but instead what really happened in 1983 and how both sides reacted.Although a few books about Cold War has some chapters about it, i was suprised not to find a dedicated book solely about this exercise. if you can refer some reading i would be greatful.
