The software, as in ALL new build projects these days...
The report says the rumoured delay is due to "key contract awards being held up by infighting among European governments".

Waiting

Perhaps they are waiting until the C17 is out of production giving them market dominance of a option of 1, which the C17 has had but wasn't truly exploited.

I was making a guess mate, I actually had no idea but just chose the main problem that seems to plague new build platforms these days...

I certainly know that the structure is going OK. The fuselage was well on time last reported by Flight after Farnborough Airshow. The rest of the components seem to be on time too as well as the Final Assembly Line in Seville. EADS strongly deny any delays and baring in mind recent A380 probs, that is not a statement they would come out with if they did not believe it.

This is why I struggle to think of what could be late as reported by the Tribune.

Yesterday I was watching Euronews - economica and I heard that EADS denied reports of delays in A400M deliveries. The stock is recovering somewhat in the Paris Exchange, though it remains close to the lowest of the year to date.

cheers

This denial might come premature though. As far as I can see they are going to launch an internal review concerning this matter and wether or not there will be any delays will be clear around October or November. If its a political thing, that has nothing to do with internal Airbus assembly work and technical reasons, then Airbus wont have any direct influence over the outcome anyway. Wait and see...

This internal review could be the new management trying to pre-empt any nasty surprises such as those on the A380. Forgeard clearly took his eye off the ball, & insufficient attention was being paid to production engineering for a while. Makes sense for all major new projects to be reviewed, in light of that. Identify potential problems, & fix 'em before they cause trouble. I see it as action to prevent delays.

Do you really believe that Fogeard took his eye off the ball with A380. I cannot imagine him not knowing about the delays way in advance.
I still cannot find any reference anywhere of where these supposed delays on A400M are supposed to come from. I think it is just rumour mongering. If I were an incoming boss arriving during the A380 mess, I would probably also launch a complete audit of all programs, just to make sure no further suprises were round the corner.

I'm sure he knew about the delays before they were announced, but if he'd been on top of things, the delays would have been less, because the cause would have been addressed earlier. I suspect that Forgeard - and a lot of other people, because this isn't one mans fault - were concentrating too much on A350, & perhaps other matters, & left A380 coasting, with insufficient oversight. But I think there would still have been delays.

Agree completely with the rest of what you say.
