2007 Modern Day Marine Military Exposition,
WASHINGTON: At a time of renewed emphasis on the expeditionary capabilities of American forces, U.S. Marines are about to see the latest in equipment and systems now being produced by leading defense companies from around the world. The 2007 edition of the Modern Day Marine Military Exposition will be presented at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, October 2 – 4.
The world's largest military equipment and systems exposition focusing on enhanced capabilities for expeditionary forces is co-sponsored by Marine Corps Systems Command and a 65,000-member U.S. Marine Corps veteran's organization, the Marine Corps League. Marine Corps Systems Command is the Corps' principal agency for acquisition and sustainment of systems and equipment for the Marines' warfighting mission.
Nearly 400 companies will showcase their products throughout exhibit halls and outdoor displays, and a special pavilion will spotlight equipment for countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The exposition provides first- hand exposure of the latest in defense manufacturing, science and technology to the users – the men and women who employ, or will soon be employing, many of the products on display in training and combat operations. It also gives those users opportunities to convey personal input, including examples of their own combat experiences, and to extend feedback and suggestions directly to the world's leading suppliers of defense-related equipment, systems and services.
The exposition includes a special by-invitation-only Report to Industry presented by senior Marine officers and also Marine Corps Systems Command Program Group Director Briefings.
Another special activity will be an Enlisted Awards Parade at 9:00am on Wednesday, October 3rd. At the parade, the Commandant of the Marine Corps will present awards for superior service to Marines and Sailors serving with Marine Corps units from around the world. A by-invitation-only grand banquet and awards dinner will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the Crystal City section of Arlington, VA, on Tuesday, October 2nd. At the dinner, the Commandant of the Marine Corps will present the Marine Corps League's top annual awards to two distinguished Americans.
The 2007 Modern Day Marine Military Exposition will draw not only U.S. Marine Corps military and civilian personnel but also members of the other U.S. Armed Forces, foreign military attaches, and corporate representatives. Family members of Department of Defense military and civilian personnel are invited to tour the exhibits on “Family Day,” Thursday, October 4th.
For security purposes, all attendees must have picture identification available when entering the base at Quantico, and vehicles may be subjected to inspection. Uniformed Marines may enter exhibit halls without a special registration badge. Other military personnel, civilians, industry representatives, and members of the press must register on site and obtain a registration badge during registration hours. There is no cost to attend the exposition.
