DEFYWIRE ,
Washington: Defywire Mobile Military, a platform for the development and rapid deployment of wireless software applications, made its debut today to an audience of military and government technologists attending the 30th Annual FOSE Conference and Exhibition.
Developed by Defywire, a leading wireless and mobile software provider based in Herndon, Virginia, Defywire Mobile Military gives war fighting organizations the ability to quickly build and deploy secure wireless applications.
Defywire Mobile Military enables mobile personnel to access mission critical data within any number of disparate defense IT systems in real-time over virtually any wireless network and deliver that information to any wireless device.
“The same attributes that have made Defywire mobile software so appealing in the private sector–highly secure, real time, deployable in just weeks, and device and network independent -read like a checklist of the military's requirements for mobile application deployment,” said Jill Stelfox, CEO of Defywire.
“We are extremely pleased to be launching Defywire Mobile Military, which tailors our Mobile Application Development Environment specifically for military use.”
Defywire expects Mobile Military applications to be used by military command and staff, signal and IT, logisticians, and combat arms personnel. The mobile platform is standards-based and compatible with all existing information systems, wireless network technologies, and mobile devices–making it possible to easily and rapidly deploy applications that link existing back-end data sources with field operatives.
Defywire Mobile Military is components-based, so applications can be designed using modules already built into the application development environment, or users may customize applications by substituting outside or existing IT solutions.
For instance, Defywire Mobile Military is highly secure–FIPs140-2 Level 1 compliant–with data encrypted in transit and on the device, but developers can utilize their own authentication, encryption and security solutions in building mobile applications within the environment.
Further security features built into Defywire Mobile Military, include the real time capability of the system, which ensures that data is viewed as needed, not stored on the mobile device as is the case in synchronization solutions. Defywire Mobile Military also includes a “poison pill” feature, which can be activated remotely to erase software from devices that are lost or stolen.
Like all Defywire applications, Defywire Mobile Military is device and network independent. Supported mobile devices include: Pocket PC, Blackberry, Treo, smart phones, and tablet and laptop PCs. The smart client dynamically adapts to fit specific device displays and memory capabilities.
Users can also leverage an existing network technology or use any combination of networks, such as 1xRTT, WIFI, GPRS, IDEN, or satellite. Real-time applications can also be configured to operate in offline and persistent connectivity modes, when network connectivity is intermittent.
The Defywire Mobile Application Development Environment (MADE) eliminates the need for application developers to understand JAVA or security, which enables rapid deployment and upgrade times. Field usability is also a priority for Defywire, which has specialized in creating usable applications designed for mobile personnel in challenging field environments.
Defywire Mobile Military can be obtained directly from Defywire or through a number of federal government and defense integrators.
