, Korea and Israel will hold talks next week to explore ways of promoting bilateral ties in the defense industry, Seoul's defense procurement agency said Friday (Jan. 19).
Led by Lee Sun-hi, commissioner of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), the five-member Korean delegation will leave for Tel Aviv this weekend to attend the meeting to be held on Monday, the seventh of its kind.
“The two sides plan to review and discuss potential defense cooperation projects at the joint committee meeting on the defense industry and logistics,” the agency said in a press release.
Korea sees Israel with its advanced military technologies as a key partner in the defense industry, DAPA added.
During their week-long stay, the Korean delegation is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz and make a tour of the country's major military facilities and defense firms.
Lee's Israeli counterpart at Monday's meeting will be Vice Defense Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.
