KIS, An international air show featuring demonstration flights and aerial acrobatics by state-of-the-art aircraft is to begin Tuesday (Nov. 4) in Busan, with the participation of more than 180 aerospace companies around the world.
A total of 42 foreign and domestic fighter jets, trainer planes and attack helicopters are to take part in the Korea Air Show 2003 at Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO), the state-invested Korea Aerospace Industries Association said on Monday.
Among the aircraft to be presented during the six-day event are F-18 Hornet jets, AH-1 Super Cobra attack helicopters, AH-64 Longbow multi-mission helicopters, Russian Sukhoi SU-31 jets, and Korean-built KF-16 fighters and KT-1 trainer planes.
The event, the fourth of its kind, also includes an exhibition of various kinds of aviation and space equipment from 20 countries, such as unmanned aerial vehicles, radar and aerial communication devices and satellites, the association said.
It said 60 South Korean and 123 foreign munitions firms will also participate in the exhibition.
The air show, which began in 1995 and had been held in a military airport in the suburbs of Seoul, was aimed at providing an opportunity for people to see modern South Korean aircraft.
