, Korea’s new high-speed hovercraft landing ship is set to be commissioned next month, the country’s defense acquisition agency said Monday (April 2).
The ship, code-named “LSF-II” and nicknamed “Kite 631,” was built by Hanjin Heavy Industries under a five-year project that cost about 49.5 billion won ($51 million).
“It will be delivered to the Navy in early April,” the Defense Acquisition Program Administration said.
The 155-ton ship can accommodate up to 150 personnel and reach a maximum speed of 74 km per hour, it added.
