MOSCOW: Jordan is interested in purchasing Russian helicopter gunships and other military equipment, King Abdullah II of Jordan said at a meeting with editors-in-chief of Russian media outlets at the Itar-Tass news agency on Thursday.
Jordan is very interested in acquiring Russian helicopter gunships, and air defense and antitank systems, he said, emphasizing that these armaments are the best in the world.
The king confirmed that he was planning to discuss this issue at the upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Although Jordan's armed forces are based on NATO standards, it fruitfully cooperated with Russia, and used the benefit of the experience gained by Russian special task force.
The monarch called for expanding trade and economic cooperation with Russia, noting the task of the development of trade flow routes.
He also underscored the necessity to launch regular air service between Jordan and Russia.
