PTI, NEW DELHI: Army, after a gap of over 20 years, has undertaken a major exercise in the eastern sector involving a corp.
Army has been conducting war games in the western sector as well as in the mountains but after the 1971 operations it has not conducted any major war game in the eastern theatre.
Army chief Gen N C Vij, who is currently on a visit to the north eastern sector, attended the war game and commended the officers and personnel for the war game.
The Army chief was also briefed about the prevailing security situation at the headquarter of the 33 corp and 4 corp particularly on the activities of the militant groups like Ulfa, NDFB and KLO.
Appreciating the marked improvement in the insurgency situation, Vij patted the troops for undertaking missions which had demoralised the militants, a defence ministry release here said.
