“Two prototypes have been ordered,” said Adm. Madhvendra Singh, the
Indian navy chief of staff. “These aircraft are expected to be
operational by 2009-10.”
The naval variant of the LCA differs from the air force version by virtue
of its stronger fuselage, tail hook and canard wings.
The naval version will also be able to operate from an aircraft carrier,
said Singh.
