Harris Corporation, ROCHESTER, N.Y.: Harris Corporation, a leading supplier of secure, tactical radios for defense forces worldwide, today announced that it has been awarded a $68 million contract to supply the government of Pakistan with Falcon II tactical multiband radios.
“We are very pleased that the government of Pakistan has selected Harris radios for this important mission,” said Chester Massari, president, Harris RF Communications Division. “The advanced technology of our radios will enhance the capability of Pakistan's military to communicate up-to-the-minute intelligence between patrols and headquarters operations.”
Pakistan is an important partner to Coalition forces in the fight against terrorism in the region. The use of software-programmable radios will increase the interoperability of communications between Pakistani and Coalition forces. Harris Falcon II radios are combat-proven and widely used by U.S. and allied soldiers around the world.
Under the terms of the contract, Harris will supply its RF-5800H — an advanced, high-frequency (HF) SSB/VHF-FM radio that provides reliable and secure tactical communications — in the following quantities and configurations: 1,635 HF manpack radios, 1,635 HF vehicular radio systems, 50 high-power vehicular radio systems, six high-power base station systems, and two Radio Frequency Remote Control Systems.
