http://www.menewsline.com, WASHINGTON: Greece and Turkey continue to receive a U.S.-origin sea-based missile.
Greece and Turkey have continued to be part of a U.S. program to supply the Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile to NATO allies. Under the program, the United States has sold and supported the Sea Sparrow.
The Evolved Sea Sparrow has been manufactured by Raytheon. The Defense Department awarded a $232.7 million contract to Raytheon to supply the ESSM to NATO allies, which also included Australia, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United States.
The ESSM was meant to provide self-defense battlespace and firepower against high-speed, highly maneuverable anti-ship missiles. Officials said all NATO countries will obtain the missile.
