ISLAMABAD (APP): Spectacular and impressive grand parade of marching as well as mechanized columns of Defence Forces and civil organizations was held here Friday to mark the 67th Pakistan Day.
President General Pervez Musharraf was the chief guest while Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was also present on the dias of the parade held here at the newly selected venue in Jinnah Stadium.
Senior Minister and Minister of Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen. Ihsan-ul-Haq, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mahmood Ahmed and Vice Chief of the Army Staff Gen Ahsan Saleem Hayat were also present on the dias.
Chairman Senate Mohammadmian Soomro and a large number of dignitaries, including Federal Ministers, Ambassadors, Parliamentarians, Diplomats, Bureaucrats, senior military officers and thousands of people belonging to various walks of life also witnessed the thrilling event.
The parade had attained importance as newly manufactured multi-roll, light weight fighter aircraft by Pakistan with the help of most trusted friendly country of China – JF-17 Thunder – participated in the fly past organised by Pakistan Air Force. It also marked formal induction of the aircraft in the fleet of the country
