AFP, NATO military games bringing together soldiers from the trans-Atlantic alliance and the former Soviet republics of Georgia and Azerbaijan began June 7 in Lithuania, the Defense Ministry said.
Some 2,000 troops and civilians are to take part in the games, dubbed Amber Hope 2005, aimed at better preparing troops for NATO-led operations.
Troops from NATO members Britain, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, as well as guests Georgia and Azerbaijan, are taking part in the exercise based at Rukla military base in central Lithuania.
