MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd, RICHMOND, BC: MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., a provider of essential information solutions, announced today that Collecte Localisation Satellites (CLS) of Toulouse, France has committed to a RADARSAT-2 information solution.

The solution will be used by the French maritime authorities to continue maritime surveillance of areas of the South Indian Ocean around Kerguelen Island, a territory of France. The primary purpose is to detect illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing ships.

CLS has signed a contract with MDA to upgrade the existing RADARSAT receiving and processing infrastructure to RADARSAT-2. MDA and CLS are working on an agreement to extend the CLS license to continue receiving RADARSAT-1 and to receive RADARSAT-2 upon launch.

MDA provides advanced information solutions that capture and process vast amounts of data, produce essential information, and improve the decision making and operational performance of business and government organizations worldwide. MDA employs more than 2,500 people in locations across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. The Company's common shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

CLS, a subsidiary of CNES (French Space Agency), IFREMER (French Research Institute for exploration of the sea) and several French financial institutions, offers satellite services in location, environmental data collection and ocean observation to a broad range of professionals including government, industry and the scientific community.
