Australian Department of Defense, More than 250 of Australia’s finest academic, scientific and technical minds gathered in Melbourne this week for the third Australian Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Advanced Technology and Innovation Conference.
Representatives from the US Government, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce and General Electric genuinely welcomed the opportunity to interact with Australian research and development specialists. Australian industry also had the opportunity to discuss technology opportunities with applications overseas.
Program Manager of Defence’s New Air Combat Capability project, Air Vice-Marshal John Harvey said inserting Australian technology into future development of the JSF is a key Government objective from Australia’s ongoing participation in the global JSF Program.
“The conference identified considerable scope for future collaboration between Australian industry, universities and R&D organisations on JSF,” said Air Vice-Marshal Harvey.
As a direct outcome of work leading up to the Conference, Air Vice-Marshal Harvey signed an Agreement with Rolls Royce to explore collaborative propulsion-related activities.
To date twenty two Australian companies have won $150 million in the system development and demonstration phase of the JSF Program.
