On 27th July, 2009 the NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero, will travel to Hungary to take part in the ceremony at the Papa airbase welcoming the arrival of the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III plane.
This plane is the first of the three acquired by the NATO Airlift Management Agency (NAMA) as part of the Strategic Airlift Capability initiative (SAC).
The ceremony will also be attended by the Hungarian Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai, the Minister of Defence Mr. Imre Szekeres and other high level representatives of the twelve SAC participating nations. (These are 10 NATO Nations (Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, the United States) and 2 Partners (Finland and Sweden)).
The Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) – which will operate the fleet of C17s – will also be activated at the same time
