L-3 Communications, NEW YORK: L-3 Communications announced today that its Link Simulation and Training (Link) division has delivered an F-16C Block 52+ Aircrew Training Device (ATD) to the Hellenic Air Force (HAF).
The F-16C Block 52+ ATD, which will be housed at an operational base of the HAF, will enable pilots to hone their air-to-air and air-to-ground combat skills by acquiring and identifying targets to accurately deliver a wide range of ordnance. In addition, pilots will be able to practice takeoffs and landings, aerial in-flight refueling, low-level flight and emergency procedures.
“Delivery of the F-16C Block 52+ ATD to the Hellenic Air Force marks Link's first simulator delivery to an international customer that incorporates both our advanced SimuSphere(TM) visual display and SimuView PC image generator and host computer technologies,” said John McNellis, president of Link Simulation and Training. “We have had a long and valued relationship with the Hellenic Air Force on the F-16 platform since 1987 and we look forward to supporting the service's future simulation requirements.”
Link's three-panel SimuSphere visual display will provide the pilot with a 180 degree horizontal by 70 degree vertical field-of-view. Link's SimuView personal computer image generation system will power both out-the-window and cockpit sensor display imagery viewed by the pilot.
The F-16C Block 52+ ATD is integrated with a Link-built geo-specific data base.
