US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, WASHINGTON: The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Singapore of several munitions and training as well as associated equipment and services.
The total value, if all options are exercised, could be as high as $200 million.
The Government of Singapore has requested a possible sale of 28 GBU-10 Precision Guided Munitions, 56 GBU-12 Precision Guided Munitions, 126,000 20mm Practice Round Cartridges, 14,000 BDU-33 Bomb Practice trainers, 1,500 MK-82 Bomb Practice trainers, 1,500 MK-84 Bomb Practice trainers, Continental United States (CONUS) PEACE CARVIN V aircrew proficiency training program, and logistics support for F-15 aircraft to include flight training support equipment, software development/integration, modification kits, spares and repair parts, maintenance, flight test instrumentation, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor technical and logistics personnel services, and other related elements of logistical and program support. The estimated cost is $200 million.
This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been, and continues to be, an important force for economic progress in Southeast Asia.
Singapore needs these munitions to support its F-15 aircraft. These short-range precision munitions will provide Singapore with a credible defense capability while avoiding the collateral damage associated with conventional gravity munitions. This program will enable Singapore to develop mission ready and experienced aircrew through its CONUS training program to support Singapore’s future F-15 aircraft inventory. The long-term aircrew training program in CONUS continues a professional interaction and enhances operational interoperability with U.S. forces. Current U.S. Government policy is to enhance and strengthen our relationship with Singapore, and this proposed sale will support this policy.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The principal contractors will be General Electric Aircraft Engines Division of Cincinnati, Ohio and Boeing Integrated Defense Solutions of St. Louis, Missouri. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to Singapore.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.
This notice of a potential sale is required by law; it does not mean that the sale has been concluded.
